Greenleafs Tree Service - Large tree removal
Large tree removal

Contrary to a common myth tree pruning and removal is safe for trees year round.  Effective and selective pruning is beneficial for overgrown trees and for trees interfering with wires or homes.  Ideal pruning is achieved when the cuts are neat, the over all structure is improved and the tree looks healthy.

For pruning or removing trees, Greenleaf’s utilizes the skills of a climber, bucket truck or crane.  We offer stump grinding and tree consultations. When removing trees, special care is given to protect other trees and structures in the work zone.

Owner Rich Gambale provides free estimates and during the initial meeting he will listen to your ideas and concerns.  He can then explain specific options to meet your needs, both for short term and long term.

Rich has been climbing and felling trees for 15 years and is a fully insured certified Massachusetts arborist. Certified arborists are highly trained and skilled professionals.   They are able to identify tree insects, diseases, and hazardous trees. The following questions pertain to a tree that needs an arborist’s attention:

  • Are there large dead branches in the tree?
  • Are there detached branches hanging in the tree?
  • Have the tree’s roots been buried by construction?
  • Has new construction ripped up large tree roots?
  • Does the tree have cavities or rotten wood along the trunk?
  • Are mushrooms present at the base of the tree?
  • Has the tree been topped?
  • Are there cracks in the trunk or where branches are attached?
  • Has the trunk developed a strong lean?
  • In the fall have the leaves fallen off too early?

When a tree has one or more of the above symptoms it may be deemed hazardous.  These trees are more likely to fail in high wind, heavy ice or snow load or for no apparent reason. Sometimes corrective measures can be taken to save the tree but it’s generally safer to take down such hazardous trees before they cause major damage. To prevent a tree from failing Greenleaf’s performs quality pruning. Pruning improves the health and appearance of trees, prolonging their useful life.
